Launched in 1991, the Citroën ZX was a front-wheel-drive family hatchback built to compete with the Peugeot 309 and VW Golf. Offered in 1.1 to 1.9 TDi forms, it sold strongly across Europe but brought little innovation beyond Citroën's usual ride quality.
