The Lamborghini Miura, produced 1966–1972, pioneered the mid-engine supercar layout with its transversely mounted 3.9-litre V12. Designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone, it stunned the 1966 Geneva Motor Show and is widely regarded as the world's first true supercar.
