The Volkswagen Passat B3 (1988–1993) was the third generation of VW's mid-size family sedan, notable for dropping the VW/Audi badge-sharing of previous generations and adopting a fully VW-specific platform. It featured a clean, flush aerodynamic body designed by Herbert Schäfer, with a drag coefficient of just 0.29 Cd. Engine options ranged from 1.6L and 1.8L petrol fours producing 72–136 hp (including a G60 supercharged version), to diesel variants. The B3 was well-received for its build quality, practicality, and refined road manners, selling in large numbers across Europe. Today, survivors are modestly valued as practical classics rather than collector pieces.
