The Mercedes-Benz CL-Class C215 is a grand touring luxury coupé produced from 1999 to 2006, based on the W220 S-Class platform. It replaced the C140 CL and was the first CL to be sold under a standalone nameplate rather than as the 'S-Class Coupé'. The range spanned from the CL 500 with a 5.0L V8 (306 hp) up to the formidable CL 600 with a 5.8L V12 (368 hp), and later the hand-built CL 55 AMG (500 hp) and the ultra-exclusive CL 65 AMG (612 hp). The C215 introduced Active Body Control (ABC) suspension — a world first for a production car — providing an exceptionally smooth ride without conventional anti-roll bars. With pillarless hardtop styling, a lavish interior, and cutting-edge technology for its era, it epitomises effortless high-speed grand touring. Values have stabilised at the lower end of the market due to expensive maintenance concerns, making it one of the most affordable V12 luxury coupés available.
