The second-generation Buick Skylark Convertible (1961–1963) was a stylish compact drop-top built on GM's Y-body platform, shared with the Oldsmobile Cutlass and Pontiac Tempest. The 1962 model featured Buick's 215 cu in (3.5L) aluminum V8 engine producing around 185 hp, making it notably lightweight for the era. Its sleek lines, low beltline, and open-air driving experience made it a popular personal luxury choice. The aluminum V8 was innovative but complex; GM later sold the design to Rover, where it lived on for decades.
