1981 · 🇩🇪 Germany · 136 hp
The BMW 5 Series E28 was produced from 1981 to 1988 as BMW's mid-size executive sedan, succeeding the E12. Available with a range of inline-4 and inline-6 engines, the base 520i produced around 125–136 hp depending on market. The E28 generation is best known for spawning the legendary M5 (1985), the world's fastest production sedan at the time. The standard E28 525e and 528i are well-regarded for their smooth six-cylinder engines and classic BMW driving dynamics. Today they represent an affordable entry point into classic BMW ownership, with well-preserved examples commanding modest premiums.
