2001 · 🇺🇸 United States · 150 hp
The Chrysler PT Cruiser is a retro-styled compact car/wagon produced from 2000 to 2010, inspired by 1930s American hot rod and Art Deco styling. Launched for the 2001 model year, the base version used a 2.0L four-cylinder engine producing 150 hp. Despite massive initial enthusiasm and strong early sales, it quickly became polarizing and is often cited as a cautionary tale of novelty-driven design. A turbocharged GT variant offered up to 220 hp. Built in Toluca, Mexico, it was a surprise hit in its launch year but depreciated rapidly.
