About this car
The Chevrolet Astro, launched in 1985 as GM's answer to growing minivan demand, used a rear-wheel-drive (or optional AWD) body-on-frame platform rather than a unibody layout, giving it truck-like durability. The 4.3L Vortec V6 was standard by the early 1990s.
