The Chevrolet Suburban GMT800 is the ninth generation of the longest-running nameplate in automotive history, introduced for the 2000 model year on the same GMT800 platform shared with the Tahoe and Silverado. Offered in 1500 and 2500 series, it was powered primarily by GM's Vortec V8 engines — the 5.3L producing around 285 hp and the 6.0L producing up to 320 hp — with optional 4WD. At over 5.5 meters long, it was one of the largest SUVs on sale, seating up to 9 passengers. A staple of American family life, law enforcement, and government fleets, the GMT800 Suburban was known for its towing capacity, interior room, and workhorse dependability. It remained in production until 2006 when replaced by the GMT900 generation.
