The Citroën Berlingo Mk1 is a compact multipurpose vehicle and light commercial van launched in 1996, developed jointly with Peugeot (sharing its platform with the Partner). It was available in passenger and cargo variants, powered by a range of petrol and diesel engines from around 60 to 90 hp. Praised for its practicality, boxy interior space, and affordable running costs, it became enormously popular across Europe as both a family car and a tradesman's workhorse. Production of the first generation continued until 2008.
