The Jaguar XJ (X308) Hearse is a coachbuilt funeral vehicle based on the X308-generation XJ saloon, produced between 1997 and 2003. Conversion specialists such as Coleman Milne or Woodall Nicholson would extend and modify the XJ platform to create a long-wheelbase hearse body, retaining Jaguar's 3.2 or 4.0-litre AJ-V8 engine. These vehicles offered a distinctly prestigious alternative to the more common Daimler DS420 or Mercedes-Benz-based hearses, providing a refined and dignified conveyance. The X308 underpinning brought modern amenities, a smooth V8 and classic Jaguar styling to the funeral trade. Given the low volumes produced and their specialist working-vehicle nature, surviving examples in good condition are increasingly sought after by collectors and funeral professionals alike.
