The SA22C was the first-generation RX-7, launched in 1978 with a 12A twin-rotor Wankel engine producing around 100 hp. Its lightweight, near-perfect 50/50 balance and pop-up headlights made it a landmark sports car that proved rotary power could work in a production car.
