The W251 R-Class was Mercedes-Benz's ambitious attempt at a luxury MPV-crossover hybrid, seating up to seven across two or three rows. Launched in 2005, it offered V6 and V8 engines with standard 4MATIC all-wheel drive but struggled commercially against conventional SUVs.
