The 996-generation GT3 introduced Porsche's Mezger flat-six racing engine to road buyers, producing 360 hp in Mk1 form and 381 hp in the 2003 Mk2 update. Stripped of rear seats, GT3 offered a direct motorsport connection at a fraction of the race car cost.
