The Porsche Cayenne Turbo (9PA) is the range-topping variant of the first-generation Cayenne, produced from 2002 to 2010. Powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.5-litre V8 producing 450 hp (later 500 hp in the GTS/Turbo S), it could sprint from 0–100 km/h in under 5.5 seconds — remarkable for a full-size SUV of its era. Despite initial controversy from purists, it proved commercially decisive for Porsche, funding the 997-era 911 and Boxster development. The 9PA generation shares its platform with the Volkswagen Touareg and Audi Q7, but Porsche's tuning and Turbo-specific chassis setup delivered a genuinely sports-car-like driving experience. At around $12,000–$18,000 today, it offers supercar performance at bargain prices, though maintenance and running costs remain high.
