The first-generation Subaru Legacy (BC chassis, 1989–1994) launched Subaru's flagship sedan lineup with standard all-wheel drive and a horizontally-opposed engine. The RS and GT variants produced up to 220 hp turbocharged, and the Legacy RS set a world endurance speed record at Nardò in 1989.
