The VAZ-2109 is a five-door hatchback variant of the Soviet-era Samara family, launched in 1987 at the AvtoVAZ plant in Togliatti. Powered by a 1.3–1.5 L OHC engine producing around 64–78 hp, it was the most practical and popular Samara body style, widely sold across the USSR and Eastern Europe.
