The Type 1 1300 was VW's mid-spec Beetle variant, fitted with a 1285cc air-cooled flat-four producing 40 hp. Introduced in 1966 as a step up from the 1200, it balanced economy with marginally improved performance, and became one of the most globally recognised cars of the postwar era.
